Camden Children’s Safeguarding and Social Work became a Partner in Practice (PIP) in April 2018. The Partners in Practice programme is a Department for Education initiative that aims to be a genuine partnership between local and central government by bringing together the best practitioners and leaders in children’s social care to improve the system.

There are two main strands of the PIP programme, Sector Led Improvement and Understanding Excellence, which encompasses driving sector led improvement by offering support to authorities to improve whilst continuing to demonstrate excellent practice and driving innovation. Supporting wider programmes, to raise the standard of front-line practice and piloting new initiatives is the Camden’s Integrated Adolescent Approach.

2020 Camden were also successful in their bid for COVID DfE/ PIP funding. The funded activities has focused on digital devices and communications that have worked, and/or further evaluation is required. The use of Virtual Reality tools and the use of digital technology to support communication, supported by Young Scrutineers.
